Tonight, the boy and I Scouted with the Kemptville Scout Troop again. They invited the Wolf Cub Scouts for a "linking" meeting. The original plan was an outdoor campfire, but the location was washed out.
Instead, they did one inside. Not remotely dangerous or irresponsible as it sounds. A real fire is not part of the event.
Sometimes you have an electric thingy that looks pretty close. Tonight, we imagined it. Not hard to do really, and fun.
So, we had a whole whack of songs, skits, and cheers. Scouts do not applaud, they do various cheers. My favourites, ketchup bottle, and mosquito cheers.
It was great fun. And tonight the Wolf Cub Scouts were awesome, they had some really great songs, skits, and cheers. A level above many Packs that I have encountered in my time. These kids were really switched on. They all were, Scouts, Cubs, Scouters.
It was a blast.
And as we said, even though there was not a real fire and it was a load fun, wait until we do it with a real campfire.
There will be plenty of memorable campfires yet to come.
