self-plagiarisation

So, not so much of a post, but more of a question. Or, more precisely, a series of questions.

Is self-plagiarisation a real thing?

Can you really plagiarise yourself?

How does one rip oneself off?

Yes, the definition at the wikipedia link above is quite specific.

However, if you do not say it is new material, are you a fraud?

To me, it is like referencing yourself. Really, the only reason you reference yourself is to promote yourself. What is wrong with tooting your own horn for minimal effort?

So what if you recycle your own work? You produced it. It is your work. It comes from your mind. Why can that be considered wrong?

Have you ever submitted the same work for two different assignments, either school or work?

Have you ever been "caught" doing it?

Personally, I think a mountain is being made of a molehill. In other words, the nitpickers can bite me!

Cheers. blbbl
